1/ DRAM prices fell for 11 consecutive months as demand in the mobile phone and PC markets decline

The Nikkei News reported on the 11th that the price of DRAM, which is used to temporarily store data on smartphones and PCs, has further fallen. The main reason is that the stagnation of personal consumption has led to weak demand for PCs and other products, and clients have reduced their purchases.

In March 2023, the wholesale price of the index product DDR4 8Gb is about US$1.50 each, down 6% from February; the price of 4Gb products with smaller capacity is about US$1.20 each, down 8% from February. Both 8Gb and 4Gb prices have fallen for the 11th consecutive month, and they have dropped by 52% compared with the same month last year.

According to reports, with Samsung and other major memory manufacturers reducing production, it is estimated that the supply and demand are expected to slowly become tighter, but there is still an oversupply. Akira Nanchuan, an analyst at Omdia, a British research company, pointed out that "the price of DRAM will bottom out, and it is estimated that it may have to wait until the end of Q3."
